EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass— LENOX, a leading manufacturer of premium power tool accessories, hand tools, torches, solder and band saw blades, will dedicate the 2011 LENOX Industrial Tools 301 race to helping the communities affected by the tornados that tore through New England in early June. To kick off the NASCAR race on July 17, LENOX and its employees will be presenting a check to the Pioneer Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross to support its tornado relief efforts.
"We′ve called Massachusetts home for nearly 100 years. It′s the LENOX way to go the extra mile and we′re committed to helping rebuild our communities," said LENOX President Rich Wuerthele. "The Red Cross has a global reputation built on disaster relief. We hope this donation helps support the Pioneer Valley Chapter′s efforts in providing services to those in need across New England."
LENOX, whose facility has been headquartered in East Longmeadow, Mass., since 1915, is collecting employee donations throughout the month of June that will add to a company donation of $25,000 to the local Red Cross chapter. The LENOX facility was not damaged by the storms, but some employees′ homes sustained significant damage, including that of Tom Joseph, who has worked for LENOX for over 25 years.
"Our thoughts are with the many families that are in the process of rebuilding their homes and lives," Wuerthele added. "I′m proud of the way the LENOX team has banded together to help their colleagues and neighbors. We invite race fans to go the extra mile with us by making a donation."
LENOX will have an outdoor display set up at the race, where attendees can receive details on how to contribute to the Red Cross via SMS so donations can be added to mobile phone bills.
The LENOX Industrial Tools 301 gets the green flag at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, located in Loudon, NH. The check presentation will take place during pre-race ceremonies on the start-finish line.
